AGM Wednesday 17/04/13

Hey Mohawks!

Tomorrow is one of the biggest events of the Mohawks calendar – the Annual General Meeting (AGM for short!).

It is so important that every single one of you comes, firstly to vote in the new committee for the next year, but also to voice anything you want to about the club.

Firstly, if you want to run for a position, or if you are even thinking about it, check out this link:  http://committee.mohawks.co.uk/

Here you can see a description of all the committee roles – I urge you, even if you are 10% sure that you want to run for something, do it. Being a part of the committee is one of the best things ever.

Please arrive at Lancaster House Study Room at 5pm tomorrow (there will be people to direct you if you don’t know where that is – I hope you all know where Lancaster House is).

After the AGM is the last social of the term – it’s gonna be a big ‘un! Check out all the information on the forum here…

http://mohawks.co.uk/forum/agm-t1509.html

I will see you all tomorrow at Varsity (2:30 at the top Sports Complex, and then at 5 for the AGM – can’t wait to see all your beautiful faces!)

Lots of Love,

Prossident Pete

P.S – Album of the Week – Daughter – If You Leave – Female Vocalist, Quite chilled, beautiful; simply an absolute masterpiece. Listen over and over and it won’t get old. Enjoy!

Mohawks Photo Location and Time

Apologies!

The photo will take place at 12:30 (just before training) in the Debating Chamber in Falmer House – please arrive before 12:30 as there are a lot of us and will take some time getting everyone in the right places!

Thanks!

Mohawks Team Photo, Varsity + AGM

Hey ‘hawks!

So next Wednesday is the Team Photo! It would be really cool to see as many of you there as possible! Please bring full kit (shorts, red and black tops) and £10 to buy the photo – it will be so worth it – I have mine from the last 2 years and they bring back some great memories, and besides, you all have your loan now so I am sure you can manage!!

The Wednesday after that is a big one – both Varsity and the AGM are happening that day!

It would be great if you were all there showing your support for the team against Brighton – our game will be on Stanmer Park – more details are on the facebook event:

http://www.facebook.com/events/585970371414132/

Shortly afterwards is the AGM! This is the most important meeting of the year, and it will take place in Falmer House – it’s where we discuss how the year went, but more importantly elect who the committee are for next year! Every vote, and voice counts, so even if you don’t want to run for anything, attendance is pretty compulsory!

More information on the committee positions can be found here:

http://committee.mohawks.co.uk/

I cannot stress enough how worthwhile and amazing it is to be on committee, so if you are still thinking about it, just go for it!!!

More emails about these will follow, but please remember these dates!

Cheers Mo’s!!

Applying for Captaincy

Hey there Hawks

It’s time to start thinking about whether you would like to be a captain for the next academic year. Please send us an explanation of why you think you would be good for the position. Remember that being a Captain is a real commitment with a lot of work, but is also a lot of fun and very rewarding.

The positions you can apply for are:

  • Open Captain
  • Women’s Captain
  • Mixed Captain
  • Women’s Vice Captain

If you think you would be a good candidate for more than one of these positions then please apply for both (stating and preference that you have). We as captains will liaise with each other so don’t worry about applying for multiple roles.

If you have any questions or want to discuss anything further about the positions, please feel free to contact the relevant current captains.

Please send any Open Captain enquiries to [email protected]

Mixed Captain enquiries to [email protected]

and Women’s Captain and Women’s Vice Captain enquiries to [email protected]

Please apply before March 27th so that we have plenty of time to consider what’s best for the club.

For a further description of these and other committee roles, please refer tohttp://committee.mohawks.co.uk/.

Love

Your Captains 2012-2013, and your Prossident 🙂

Mohawks Newsletter Week 6

Hey Mohawks young, and slightly older!

I am so sorry firstly for the lack of newsletters recently – they are back due to popular demand!
So what is going on I hear you ask? Well, I will tell you!

Siege of Limerick

Firstly, a HUGE congratulations to the Mohawks who went to Ireland this weekend – they came second, and only lost in the final to Ireland U23’s, which isn’t too shabby at all! I am not the only one who is feeling confident about Regionals in 2 weekend’s time now!!

Open Regionals

On the subject of regionals, please make sure if you want to go you sign up on the forum g-doc Ed posted ASAP if you want a spot! Last year we got a record number of teams going, all doing really well, so lets keep up appearances, yes?

The Aftermath of The Rubiks Cube

So after an awesome party on Wednesday (if you weren’t there, sucks to be you – it was incredible, if not a little weird…) people have a lot of lost clothes. It would really helpful if ALL of you could bring those items you wore home to training on Wednesday so people aren’t apart from their *insert colour here* *insert item of clothing here* for too long!!

HARLEM SHAKE

This is happening on Wednesday after training – it will be even better with all the Rubiks Cube clothes people have with them – please facebook me if you (a) have a mask you can bring along and (b) if you have a video camera. Get thinking of ideas for what dance you can do!!

Cheers Peeps,

Inappropriate Love from Prossie

P.S – The Album of the Week this week is… there are actually 2 because I have been away too long

1. Stepdad – Wildlife Pop – very similar to bands such as Passion Pit, this is a really fun, synth-indie album from these Americans that is really easy to listen to, with some absolute tunes to boot – also, the lead singer has some fantastic facial hair, and that always means they are going to be amazing, right?!

2. The Bronx – IV – Some great Punk-Rock from these New Yorkers who continue to dominate their field – slightly heavy, but I know some of you love rocking out, and this album does not disappoint – there is nothing wrong with this album apart from the fact it ends to be honest!

PPS – a HUGE congratulations to our very own Alicia Coupland who is now University of Sussex’s very own Equality and Diversity officer! WELL DONE ALICIA!!

Mohawks Newsletter Week 2

Hey Mohawks! Prossie here!

So good news! The snow has melted! This means the Mohawks outdoor season can finally kick start!

Firstly, congratulations to the Mixed indoor first team, who won an Indoor Fun Tournament this weekend!

Training

So training is back on again starting tomorrow – everyone please come to Russells Clump at 1pm and training will start for everyone! It will probably be wet so bring plastic bags for your stuff etc. – you know what to do!

Chlamydia Club Challenge

No, this isn’t an STD spelling challenge, even though that is an extreme challenge… No this is a Chlamydia Club challenge – if the whole club can go to Falmer Bar after training tomorrow (5:30) to take a test that would be fantastic!

‘But I am clean, Prossie! Why do I need to take a test?’

That’s a very good question Prossie! Well the more people in our club who take the test, the more likely it is that we will win the prize! That’s right, a prize! If enough of the club take the test, we win money for our club, which can only benefit every single one of you! So take the test with me guys! Yay!

Pub Golf

The evil snow even cancelled the social last week, but it is on this week! Meet at Falmer Bar at 8 for the first hole! There will be scorecards and everything – no excuses not to come as it is also Sarah McCann and Starzy (Slutship)’s birthdays – so celebrate y’all!!

Cya tomorrow you lovely things,

Prossie the President xxx

P.S – I decided every week in the newsletter I will be recommending an album cos I like music and all that! So this week it’s Purity Ring – Shrines – its awesome electronic minimalist stuff – similar to both Beach House and Crystal Castles – enjoy!
