The Mohawks were founded in 1985 in the city of Brighton when a small group of like minded people join forces to play a game of Ultimate Frisbee. From that historic moment to the present-day, the Mohawks have been on the forefront of British Ultimate. You can check out a brief history of the Mohawks, in our coach’s words, here.
As a club, we have players of all levels and abilities: some have played for years and others are completely new to the game. Nobody gets turned away and there is no trial as we all had to start somewhere. We play both indoors and outdoors and in all divisions (Open, Women’s and Mixed) with numerous teams catering for the different levels of experience at each tournament.
Players are encouraged to get involved in all aspects of the club. The social section of the Mohawks is very active, with most team members having a drink and relaxing in Falmer bar after Wednesday practices, and social events during the term, with favourites from last year including the three-legged pub crawl, the double-act fancy dress social and the all-you-can-eat pizza challenge.

Mohawks is run by a committee of students elected by the whole club in the previous year, with the aim to improve the club in all respects and to make it enjoyable for all involved. We have a merchandiser who organises our kit and disc orders, an event organiser who runs ladder leagues and organises tournaments, captains for all divisions and a president and vice to oversee the running of the club.
