Aye-Aye Open, March 2005
Aye-Aye's fun tournement.

This report was supposed to have been done by Mystery Girl, but she's
far too lazy to even consider doing it. This is a girl, let me remind
you, who didn't want to play at the UMIN tourney, but once she got a
taste, she came back to Norwich for another tournement, one which she
said she'd write the tournement report for, but didn't. What a bitch.

Driving up on the friday night before allowed plenty of time to
compose some new Mohawk songs to intimidate our opponants including
cogsdave teaching us God Save The Queen;

God save our gracious queen
God save our noble queen
God save the queen

Happy and glorious
fucking victorious
long to reign over us
God save the queen

as well as more varieties of Beatles songs than you could shake a
stick at.

Got to treble's, dumped our stuff, yada yada yada.... friday night
party, at the thingy place with a band called 'Brighton Rocks'
performing. That Aye-Aye lot really care for us, you know. Highlight
of the evening was trying to get an honourable eviction from the
party, Felix meticulously planned the stage rush, giving a ten minute
warning, a five minute warning and a thirty second countdown. We must
have had a spy in our ranks somewhere though, because as the time drew
near a couple of other bouncers came out of nowhere to attempt to dter
our plans.
Undettered, we send treble off as the decoy while Felix, mac and I
swarmed the stage and everyone else chickened out. The bouncers showed
us to the door, but didn't actually kick us out, we were so close!

Anyways... First game against disconduct was a bit of a shock, going 9-
0 down before mac scoring our first point wasn't part of the plan, but
we came away with a respectable 11-1 loss.

second game against strange blue, the best game of the tourny if you
ask me ( I scored FOUR points!) was always close, high scoring and
fast paced, but they used their strange powers to pip us 9-8

While all this crazy shit was going on, UCL and UCD needed pick-ups as
they had few players. Felix and Mac played for UCD, while me and BOb
played for UCL, clearly me and Bob had a better effect as we
eventually managed to make UCL qualify for the top half of the
tournement, ahead of us Mohawks.

our Next games were against UCL (4-4) and UCD, who lacking our pick-
ups couldn't defend against our lanes and we wooped them good.

Criminally sublime, with that cunt treble were our next opponants,
blah blah blah 8-3 to them, who gives a shit, they probably cheated
somehow.

We beat Hawaii-Aye, lost to Hells FurAye, which meant we finished 5th
in our group of 8 and were seeded 9th. This meant we would be playing
Essex Exiles in the last game of the day. Essex took the name of
exiles a bit to seriously, and decided to exile themselves from the
tournement without telling anyone beforehand.

Back at treble's for a pretty lame game of kings, where I believe I
was the only one wasted in any sense of the word. Other Mohawks went
to the party while me and Penny stayed home to guard the house against
burglers and cogsdave when he tried to come back home. Being woken up
at two am by having a really haevy glass thrown at your head isn't the
best wake up call I've ever had, but thats all part and parcel of
being in a room where drunken twister is taking place.

Next day, first game against Reading Dragons was a close one. 6-6 when
the buzzer sounded, sudden death it was, and time for a bit of
impromptu random zone play that no-one on either side seemed to
understand, but the important thing is we got the d. Everyone ran to
their end zone, then something happened where on of thier team felt
that Henry's knee made the disc fly away out of his hand and loop up
in the air, which was stupid, but it meant they had the disc again.
More random zone thing soon showed them we were king, which let
lindsey score to take the game 7-6.

Three random notes about that game. Lindsey scored almost all of our
points, despite them all being tall men. Mac threw the best disc he
will ever throw in his life, an inside-out sidearm from one corner of
our end zone to the far corner of theirs that baffled everyone and did
some crazy stuff on the way. And Finally, they were a player down
after one of their team, get this, didn't play on sunday as he went to
church, What a silly beggar. AND when he did finally show up, he
couldn't look more like a guy who would skip ultimate to go to church.

Winning against Reading meant we would play Curve in the plate final.

Curve had the end zone master, we had our unbeatable flourecent
jackets, truly this would be a clash of the titans. The first point
took up about five minutes, with us getting it to within a yard of
their end zone and them lining up in a line on the line. Eventually
Lindsey scored and we were all happy. Anyway, despite Henry's
constant, non-stop laying out against everything even remotely near
him, they managed to score a few points on us by hammers and knives.
We kept a player back to prevent this, but that meant they had more
space on th epitch blah blah blah 10-5 to them. Our invincable yellow
jackets were beaten.

Despite all this nonsense, it was a fucking great tournement, and here
are some names to cheer you all up penny, cogsdave, jess, henry,
becca, lindsey, bob, mac, felix and tequila. and becasue everyone
likes to see their name written down, here they are again in a
different order; jess, felix, lindsey, penny, tequila, becca, bob,
cogsdave, henry, mac. happy now? Everyone did play really fucking well
though, so you do deserve another mention, but its lunch time for me
now so bad luck.

oh, brixton beat disconduct in the final to win, if anyone's wondering.
